London Borough of Harrow

General: Harrow is a London Borough in northwest London. Covering 50 square kilometers Harrow is the 12th largest borough in Greater London in terms of area and 22nd in terms of size of population.

Topography: higher land in the north sloping down towards the Thames. The highest point is just over 150m above sea.

Watercourses: there are relatively few watercourses in Harrow including Yeading Brook, River Pinn, The Stanburn, Edgware Brook and Wealdstone Brook.

Habitats: the Wildlife Habitat Survey of 1984/85 documented 1,070 hectares in Harrow, or 21% of the total land surface. Approximately from 100% potential habitats woodland account 22%, scrub 5.7%, grassland 38.6%,"Weed" communities 1.9%, water 4.8%, parkland and improved grassland 18%, arable and bare ground 3.8%, other 5.2%.
